We believe in clear, agreed fees with no surprises. This policy explains how we quote, invoice and take payment for our surveying and consultancy work. The specific terms for your instruction are confirmed in your engagement.
How we quote
Before we begin any work, we provide a written fee — either a fixed fee or, where the scope cannot be fixed at the outset, a clear basis for our charges (for example an hourly or daily rate with an estimate). We confirm what the fee includes and flag anything that would be charged separately, such as disbursements or third-party costs. We will not start chargeable work until the fee and scope are agreed.
What our fee covers
Our fee covers the work set out in your engagement — for example the inspection, the report or award, and reasonable follow-up correspondence about our findings. Work outside that agreed scope (for instance additional visits, re-inspections, or acting on a related matter) is agreed and charged separately before it is carried out.
Invoicing and payment
- Unless agreed otherwise, our fee is invoiced on delivery of the report, award or other deliverable.
- For larger or longer instructions we may agree a deposit on appointment and/or staged invoicing.
- Invoices are payable within 14 days of the invoice date.
- We accept payment by bank transfer. Our bank details are shown on each invoice.
VAT and expenses
Where VAT applies, it is shown separately on your invoice. Any agreed disbursements or expenses — such as search or access fees — are itemised.
Late payment
We ask that invoices are settled on time so we can keep our fees competitive. Where an invoice is not paid by the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest and reasonable recovery costs in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 for business clients, and to withhold the release of reports or further work until payment is received.
